This is a sample of the local rules for a BRJGT tournament. Each
tournament will have a similar document based on the specific
competition needs of the course design.
BRJGT Hard Card
The USGA Rules of Golf effective January 2016, the Decisions on the
Rules of Golf 2016-2017, and local rules will govern all play for this BRJGT
Unless otherwise provided, penalty for breach of a local
rule in stroke play is two strokes. Serious breach is disqualification.
A player may obtain distance information by use of a
distance-measuring device. If, during a player uses a distance-measuring device
to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation
changes, wind speed, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 14-3. Penalty for
Breach of Rule 14-3: Two strokes. For subsequent offense—Disqualification.
Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1
A player is responsible for being at the starter’s table to
begin play at least ten minutes prior to his assigned tee time. If a player arrives within five minutes after
the assigned tee time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes
instead of disqualification (Rule 6-3b, Note).
After five minutes has elapsed, the penalty is disqualification.
player may not have a caddy or use automotive transportation during the
stipulated tournament round except where such transportation is authorized by
the BRJGT committee. Penalty for breach
of this rule is disqualification.
Players are not allowed to received advice from anyone including
parents/spectators during his/her tournament round; breach of this rule is two
strokes for the first offense and disqualification for the next. (Rule 8)
in the 9-hole groups ONLY can participate with a caddy. The caddy must walk with the player
and carry or pull a handcart with his/her golf bag offering advice,
encouragement, assistance with the rules, protection from the elements as
provided by the rules of golf and any other form of assistance that a
player/caddy relationship might provide. Also the Caddy must serve for 1
player only and must adhere to the same rules and regulations as the player.
All players are required to maintain their position in
relation to the group in front of them.
A group is considered to be out of position if there is a clear hole in
front of them and they are taking in excess of 15 minutes per hole. Groups that lose their position will be warned
and players will be timed individually. (Rule 6-7)

shall be closed during a suspension of play, until the BRJGT committee has
declared them open.
When weather conditions prevent the completion of a
stipulated round, 9 holes must be completed by all players in a given age group
for the round to be considered “official”.
Tournament winners and point values may then be determined by 9 hole
scores. Should all players in a given
age group fail to complete 9 hole, the
round is “washed out”.
If you are uncertain of your rights/unsure of the proper
procedure/or don’t know what to do in a situation, play a second ball. Notify a
rules official prior to signing your scorecard. You must inform
your fellow competitors of your intention to play a second ball and which ball
you wish to score if allowed. (Rule 3-3)
A second ball played under Rule 3-3 is not a provisional ball.
Scorecards must be signed, attested and returned immediately
following play. A scorecard is deemed
official once the player leaves the scoring area.
Playoffs will decide 1stplace winners only in each age division and corresponding point values will be
awarded. Do not leave the scoreboard
area if a playoff is possible. To settle other places for award winners, a
scorecard play-off will be used starting with the last hole played and going
backward until a winner is determined.
